Description

  • WALNUT
  • 45cm. high, 52cm. wide, 41cm. deep; 1ft. 5¾in., 1ft. 8½in., 1ft. 4¼in.
with a rectangular drop-in seat covered with 18th century needlework, worked in polychrome wools with silk highlights, in `petit' and 'gros-point' with stylised foliate stem and flowerheads, on a brown ground, on cabriole legs with pad feet

Condition

Generally this stool is very good condition. The colour and patination are both excellent. Minor old marks, chips and losses consistent with age and use. Later corner strengthening brackets to inside the seat rails. Overall the needlework is in good, stable and usable condition. There is later reworking of the brown ground. Minor old repairs to details. Some minor loss of threads.
