the slightly-bombé lid applied with turquoise beads among chased roses and leafy scrolls, the engine-turned sides with a band of laurel around the rims, the interior of the cover enamelled with a Swiss landscape inscribed: Chamouni (Chamonix), the grille to the shallow vinaigrette compartment pierced with scrolls, the base housing the musical movement which plays a typical Alpine Ranz des Vaches, makers' mark only

Condition
Generally very good condition. Slight declivity to left side of lid; very small bump on base; minor irregularity in one place near edge of grille where gold scroll is slightly twisted but not broken. The turquoise beads vary in colour. The key is lacking.
Although the musical movement is currently playing, Sotheby's do not guarantee the movement.
