Catalogue Note

This commode, although Charles X,  relates closely to furniture designed by the architect Filippo Pelagio Palagi (1775-1860), who in 1832 was commissioned by Carlo Alberto, king of Savoy, to furnish his royal palaces. A closely related commode designed by Palagi for the Queen's apartment in the Castello di Racconigi is illustrated in E. Colle, Il Mobile Impero in Italia, Milan, 1998, p. 376.
