the hinged top centered by a chessboard flanked by floral sprays opening to a green velvet-lined top with a painted foliate border, supported on a pair of gate legs swinging forward. Restorations to decoration.

Overall fair condition; the painting of the flowers to the interior appears to be original with some small areas of inpainting, the whole of this border appears to have a clear varnish to stabilize and protect the paint; areas of losses and lifting mainly to the front edge of the border and to back edge and around hinges; the top with a long horizontal age crack to center; the painting of the flowers and chess board appears to be original with some small areas of inpainting; the side edges with losses and cracks to painted surface; the frieze and legs with extensive inpainting, flaking and losses to paint; the flower painting to the front of the frieze later and not contemporary with the pieces; the table is sturdy; the velvet lining to interior replaced.
