Condition

With scattered areas of rubbing; most to base. Scattered minor oxidation and surface dirt. Torso of figure with stamped P, and can be detached, arms slightly loose. Lower half of figure can also be detached from base. Dial slightly dislodged. Dial with fine hairline cracks to enamel. Figure with small drillhole to lap; possibly lacking device. Lackinh back plate. In good overall condition.

An ormolu clock of this model also by Thomire was purchased in James Monroe through Russell and La Farge in 1817 for the large oval or Blue Room of the White House where it is preserved today, see Betty C. Monkman, The White House: Its Historic Furnishings and First Families, New York, 200, p. 63.
