Condition

There is a quarter inch frit to the rim of the punch bowl and some slight wear to the gilt rims on both pieces - otherwise in good condition.

Catalogue Note

The inscription incorporates the date for the year 1297 AH, corresponding to AD 15th December 1879 to 4th December 1880 and the name of Mas'ud Mrza Zill al-Sultan, eldest son of the Shah Nasir al-Din. The former was governor of Isfahan from 1874 and a significant figure in Iranian politics in the 1880s.
