Empire State Society, 1899) "Reuben Sikes, born in Springfield, Mass., Sept. 8, 1730; died in Somers , Conn., Dec. 24, 1804; served in the 8th Connecticut Regt. from July 7, to Dec. 16, 1775; entered Connecticut Legislature, October, 1776, and continued there during 1777; appointed Justice of the peace for Hartford County for ensuing year."
