comprising: Teapot, Creamer, Sugar Bowl and cover and Sugar Tongs, each of oval boat form with reeded rims, the slightly bombe bodies bright-cut and engraved below rim with band of undulating ribbon entwined with running foliage, engraved with script initials MVR within oval reserves surrounded by foliate swags and scrolls, teapot, and sugar bowl and teapot with urn finials, creamer and sugar bowl with reeded angular handles
Provenance
The engraved monogram MVR is for Magdalen Van Rensselaer (1785-1808), daughter of Nicholas Van Rensselaer and Elsie VanBuren, of Albany, NY. She married Petrus Beekman (1775-1811), son of Johannes Beekman and Elizabeth Douw, also of Albany. The couple had one daughter, Elizabeth, born in 1805.
