Catalogue Note

This tankard was completed 28 July, 1893, so it may have been sent to Gorham's exhibition at the Chicago World's Fair that year.  It required 130 hours of chasing, then an additional 40 hours for mounting on the glass.  The net factory price was $160, including $64 for "chasing labor" and $20 for the glass (information courtesy of Sam Hough).
