the oval base chased with beaded pendants and arabesques beneath a scalloped shoulder, the tall tusk applied with a conforming silver plaque engraved with measurements and centered by a glass thermometer stepping from a turquoise boss, base engraved with script monogram GCJ and inscribed "C. L. EDEY 1908"
