- An Important and Rare Seven-Piece Band
each impressed HAGENAUER/WIEN/HANDMADE/MADE IN AUSTRIA/FRANZ
polished aluminum and copper
comprising violinist, bass player, piano player, saxophone player, drummer, flautist and trumpet player
Condition
Overall the band is in very good original condition. The surfaces of the band with light surface dirt and some light tarnish which is consistent with the metal surface. With light surface scratches, most concentrated to the base and outer edges of the figures, all consistent with moving and age of the works. The cellist with an area of concentrated scratches to the center portion of the cello. The bow was recently restored, and the screw which previously held the bow in place was stripped. The scratches to the cello appear the result of the bow having been amateurly affixed and having slid down the front surface of the brass cello. The violinist, with a broken weld to the arm at the elbow of the arm holding the violin. This does not impact the structural stability of the work. The sculpture of the drummer is missing the top button of his shirt. The trumpeter has been recently professional restored, and the trumpet has been sensitively re-attached to the mouth piece. With a very light losses to the silvered surface as a result of this restoration, which is localized to the mouth piece of the trumpet. A stunning example of this iconic Hagenauer work, including some rare members of the band. Please note the size of the sculptures, as these are large scale works.
Due to the size of these sculptures, special handling and/or packing may be required during the shipping process. Please inquire directly with the 20th Century Design or Post Sale Services Departments if you have any questions or require assistance regarding the shipping of this item.
