Overall in very good original condition. Please note that this work is gouache and India ink on unprimed paperboard. It appears that the surface has been affixed. The surfaces are in very good stable condition with approximately five small areas of vermiculation to the surface. These areas are adjacent to the borders and do not interrupt the decorative portion. The largest concentration is to a small area on the extreme upper proper left corner, which appears in the catalogue illustration as a darkened area in an L-shape orientation. With some minor rubbing to the rendering of the legs and minor scuff marks to the proper right front leg and to the extreme edges of the bottom register. The same proper front leg of the tiger with a scratch extending two inches. The verso in a different tone, showing presently a blue/gray color, which likely would have originally been a truer blue hue. The verso with scattered minor foxing and bearing the artist’s signature and measurement in ink. The present frame is later with some minor edge losses, nicks and surface scratches. A truly spectacular work with great scale and very dramatic presence.
