Condition
Overall very good original condition. The piece with scattered surface dirt. The raised decorative elements to the fronts of the doors in excellent condition showing very detailed decorative elements and the works has retained most of its brilliant colors. There are minor areas of discoloration to the metal which are consistent with the natural aging of the material. The slate top with rubbing, discoloration and residue likely from use and storing the piece. There is one distinct line of discoloration, as seen in the catalogue illustration, that extends the depth of the slate panel. With a thorough cleaning, we feel much of this discoloration could be removed or lessened. The piece is presently fitted to stand on a custom metal base, which came when the work was when it was purchased from Paul Evans. The metal base with losses to paint concentrated to the proper left side, but with scattered losses throughout. The back of the work is not finished and therefore is intended for use against the wall. Please note that this piece is very heavy.
