Condition
Overall very good condition. The green painted surface is later, and minor losses to the paint, reveal the original yellow color underneath. The painted surface with small scattered minor losses and rubbing throughout the frame, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The wooden elements of the chair with some scattered surface scratches, rubbing to finish and edge nicks, consistent with age and use. Both the seat and seat back on this example are solid wood, showing rubbing to finish consistent with use. There is one area of staining to the seat back extending vertically about 3 inches from the center of the back. This is visible in the catalogue illustration. It appears that the solid wood seat of the chair has been replaced and some point. The seat with losses to the finish throughout, as expected with use. The wood in stable condition, and only the finish has been lost. The chair retains all of its original ball feet. With later upholstered back and seat cushions, executed in an off white color. Please see the online version of the catalogue available on sothebys.com or contact the department at 212-606-7170 to see a photograph of the chair with the cushions.
