Rhodochrosite, lacquered resin and painted steel
Provenance
Acquired directly from the designer, 1982
Private Collection, New York
Private Collection, New York
Condition
Overall very good condition. This piece has been in a private collection for a number of years and appears to only have been gently used. The metal base elements with surface scratches consistent with use. The top appears in perfect condition, with all the inlays intact. The black areas which appear in the catalogue photograph is the black resin ground in which the rhodochrosite is set. This is part of the design, and not losses to the inlay. The top is not perfectly circular, which is also consistent with the original design. The inlays are a series of beautiful and complex fragments showing bold pink and white tones. A very good example of an early work by the designer.
