Condition
Framed pieces not examined out of frame. Unframed pieces with original folio case and now with very minor tears to edges. Frames with minor abrasions. All pieces in very good, near original condition.

Catalogue Note
These engravings depict views of Xiyang Lou, a site containing a number of eighteenth-century European-style buildings on the grounds of the Old Summer Palace in Beijing. These, mostly Italian Baroque style, buildings were designed mainly by the Italian Jesuit Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766) and engineered by the French Jesuit Michel Benoist (1715-1774) for the Emperor Qianlong. The images, after which these engravings were produced, were mostly executed by Castiglione for the Emperor.
