of elongated octagonal form with applied gadroon borders, the flat-domed covers engraved on one side with contemporary arms under a drapery mantle, the dishes engraved on one side with matching crest, slip-lock reeded loop finials
Provenance
The arms are those of Bewicke of Newcastle and later of Close House, Northumberland, with Spearman in pretense for Anderson Calverley Bewicke, Lt. Col. Durham Militia, M.P. for Winchester, High Sheriff of Northumberland 1782, and his second wife Margaret, youngest daughter and co-heir of Robert Spearman of Old Acres, Northumberland.
