  • mahogany
each with shield-form backrest with pierced vase-form splats issuing forth an acanthus-leaf spray above an over-upholstered seat raised on molded square tapering legs ending in spade feet and joined by an H-form stretcher.  Comprising two armchairs and six side chairs.  Together with eight two armchair an six side chairs of a later date.  16 pieces.

Condition

Overall fair condition; with usual scratches, nicks, bruises and scuffs consistent with age and use; later corner blocks, old worm damage to rails. Chair I with old repaired break to top of right stile; worm damage to rails; old repaired break to back left leg at join with stretchers. Chair II with and old repaired break to resting rail at join with left stile and now slightly loose. Chair III with old repaired breaks to cresting rail and with inpainting; front and side rails replaced; back rail with replaced top. Chair IV with old replaced splat; repaired breaks to tops of stiles at join with cresting rail and with plugs. Chair VI with old repaired breaks to tops of stiles at joins with cresting rail; front and side rails replaced. Armchair A with old repaired break to cresting rail at join with left stile; old repaired break to top of left armrest support at join with armrest; bases of armrest supports with plugs and old repaired cracks. Armchair B with old repaired break to backrest at join with left stile; old repaired breaks to handholds; patch to molded edge of front left leg. One later armchair with old repaired break to left handhold.
