Description

  • beechwood
the arched upholstered backrest with waisted sides above a square over-upholstered seat flanked by a pair of scrolled upholstered armrests ending in scrolled bird-head terminals raised on scrolled supports, the out-curved apron carved with foliate strapwork and raised on acanthus-carved cabriole legs ending in faceted pad feet and joined by a shaped H-form stretcher.  Restorations, re-gilt.

Condition

Overall fair restored condition; re-gilded with some small losses to gesso and restorations to gesso throughout with some inpainting; side rails reinforced; the seat with springing and later corner blocks; some old worm to seat rails; bases of left feet with replaced sections;
