Catalogue Note

Fernand Paillet (1850 - 1918), a pupil of Carrier-Belleuse, was a painter of miniatures. His sitters included Edithe Wharton, the American novelist of the Belle Epoque. He was the miniature painter for the Parisian jeweller Boucheron. Watches with dials painted by Paillet are very rare and was probably one from his own collection made for exhibition.
