The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it is not striking correctly and will require servicing. The dial with two large chips to the edge. The case is very worn and scuffed throughout. There is a row of small holes along the hinge on the rear cover.

Henry Sully (1680 - 1729) was an English Horologist who lived in France, in 1718 he founded a watch factory at Versailles. Sully invented the frictional rest escapement is 1736. He wrote, it is a 'frictional rest escapement, in which the action of the escape wheel takes the weight of the balance and reduces the friction on the end of the pivot that carries it, which happens in no other watch.'
