- TWO SILVER PAIR CASED VERGE WATCHESCIRCA 1775
- silver and enamel
- diameters 51 mm
• both with verge movements, pierced and engraved balance bridges • the first: champlevé dial, Roman numerals, arcaded minutes • outer case centred by a polychrome enamel scene of a couple reading • the second: white enamel dial, Roman numerals, arcaded minutes • outer repoussé case depicting Aeneas an the Cumaean Sibyl
Condition
The first: The movement signed John Wilter, London is not running, balance not rotating. Champlevé worn. Inner case scuffed and tarnished. Enamel to the case with some scratches but with no signs of restoration.
The second: The movement signed Willm. Koter, Amsterdam, is not running, balance rotates freely when power is applied to the train. Dial in good condition. Repoussé case very worn.
