  • gold and garnet
  • diameter 31 mm, length of chain 37.5 cm
• cylinder movement • gold signed cuvette •  white enamel dial, Roman numerals, Arabic outer track • the front and back covers set with garnets and diamond-set initials • gold chain with T-bar interspersed with garnets highlighted with diamonds and pearls

Condition

The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may benefit from a service soon. Dial is in good condition. The case with scuffs throughout and small indentation to the band. The garnet to the cover has a crack to the top and the base. The diamond-set initials are The case is stamped with the Chimera which was the French import mark for gold from 1838 to 1893. The garnets to the chain are heavily scuffed, the gold links are also scuffed.

Catalogue Note

This watch was gifted to the present owners grandmother by the Palace of King Farouk for her loyalty and services while living and working for at the Palace.

Emile Froment Meurice was a Parisian goldsmith and jeweller who took over his father's business in 1859. Working mainly in the Renaissance revival style the company recieved a gold metal at the Paris World Exhibition of 1867 which bought the firm international fame.
