Description

  • A YELLOW GOLD AND ENAMEL VERGE WATCH WITH ASSOCIATED CHATELAINECIRCA 1790 AND LATER
  • Yellow gold + enamel / Manual winding
  • diameter 28 mm, length of chatelaine 185 mm
• gilt full plate movement signed Chevalier & Cochet, no 6922, pierced and engraved balance bridge • white enamel dial, Roman numerals • case with translucent red enamel over engine-turned ground, cover with seed pearls to the centre, pearl-set bezels • associated yellow gold chatelaine with painted panels depicting Renaissance scenes, stamped with French gold mark

Condition

The verge movement is not running but the balance rotates when power is applied to the train. The enamel dial is in good condition. The enamel to the case back is completely restored with soft enamel. The cover is the original hard enamel and has some scratches. There is a seed pearl lacking to the rear bezel. The chatelaine has some crazing to the edge of the painted panels, the gold links to the chains are quite thin and it has scuffs throughout.
