The rectangular case decorated with black enamel, centring on an oval intaglio in mother-of-pearl depicting a putto playing a flute, within a millegrain-set border of rose diamonds, the similarly set thumb piece opening to reveal a compartment and a vesta case to one end, inscribed to interior With many thanks from Alexander Sep.1913. Newport., measuring approximately 93mm x 43mm x 9mm, signed Cartier, Paris, Londres, New York and numbered, French assay marks.
Condition
Signed Cartier Paris Londres New York, numbered 646. Mother-of-pearl intaglio in good condition, some dirt present under the glass frame which is slightly scratched. Enamel generally in good condition, slightly chipped and scratched to the edges and underneath. Diamonds bright and lively. Does not completely close on one side when shut. Scratching due to age and wear. In good condition.
