Description

  • opal diamonds gold and silver
Designed as a series of ribbons and leaves, to a central cabochon opal within a floral border, set with cushion-shaped, circular-cut and rose diamonds, suspending a series of four tassels similarly set, brooch fitting; further accompanied by a jabot pin, each terminal set an oval cabochon opal within surrounds of cushion-shaped and circular-cut diamonds, part illustrated.

Condition

Corsage: Mounted in silver and gold. Opals with good play-of-colour, reds, greens and blues; principal opal and smaller triangular cabochon with crazing visible to the naked eye and with magnification, two with play-of-colour not visible over whole gemstone. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 27.00 - 30.00 carats, of mixed colours and clarities. Traces of lead solder to reverse, possible alterations, not visible when worn. Some elements to reverse with chased decoration. One vertical diamond drop with a loop that would benefit from attention by a professional jeweller. Pin fitting secure. In good condition. Jabot: Mounted in silver and gold. Opals with typical play-of-colour, scratches and pits to surface. Diamonds of mixed colours and clarities. Possibly part of a larger jewel, possibly later fitting. Secure closure.
