Description
- cultured pearl and diamond brooch
Designed as a pair of outspread wings to a central cluster and cultured pearl, set with circular-, single-cut and rose diamonds, brooch fitting with cultured pearl detachable, alterations to pin, hinged pendant bail.

Condition
Cultured pearl cream body colour, medium lustre, rosé overtones, slight pitting to surface, traces of glue to underside. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 7.00-9.00 carats, estimated colour H-J, estimated clarity VS/SI on average. Light scratches to mount consistent with wear. Loop fittings so brooch can be worn as a pendant. Later alterations to pin. Sliding safety catch to pin. In good condition.

Jewels forming wings in flight have been created as aigrettes, brooches and forming centre pieces to tiaras by many well known houses. Taking inspiration from the opera entitled The Valkyrie, the second in the series of four operas known collectively as The Ring of the Nibelung, by the German composer Richard Wagner (1813 - 1883).
