Description

The circular plaque with rope work decoration, set with cultured pearls, cabochon sapphires and rubies, maker's mark for Castellani, later pendant loop.

Condition
Stamped with maker's marks C.C for Castellani. Cultured pearls white body colour, light scratches to surface. Rubies medium purplish red, typical inclusions including crystals visible under magnification. Sapphires light blue, of various saturations, typical inclusions visible under magnification. Tarnished and scratches to mount consistent with time and wear. Brooch fitting and pendant loop later additions to jewel. Secure catch to pin. Circumference approximately 50mm, at widest point with cultured pearls approximately 68mm. Heavy jewel weighing approximately 63.3 grams. In good condition.
