worked in polychrome silks with exuberant scrolling trails terminating in fruit and flower filled cornucopia, surmounted by small birds and centred with a golden scrollwork cartouche enclosing figural grouping of the `Holy Family' surmounted by a coronet, with an ivory coloured ground; with associated narrow outer borders with two designs with scrolling floral and foliate stems
Condition
The colour of this panel is crisper, more defined and more attractive in reality. The colours are more vibrant, sky blues and apple greens. The lower narrow border is associated and of different design, as visible in the photograph. There are some minor losses in areas. Some losses and lack of definition to the central figural grouping, but this does not detract from the overall attractive appearance. There is some wear to the floss silk cream ground, for example across the top section, underneath the top border. Charming relief detailing to cartouche enclosing the central figural grouping. It is lined with cream silk, and edged with metal-braid.
This is a highly decorative panel. Versatile size and in good overall condition.
