Description

  • Approximately: 273cm. high, 511cm. wide; 8ft. 11in., 16ft. 9in.
in `Renaissance style', comprised of fourteen joined vertical panels of brown velvet, of various individual widths, applied overall with repeat pattern foliate motif with metal threads, edged on four-sides with fringed gilt braid; the top of the lining is printed with symbols and letters in red and black,  including E.O.Margo (which is the name of an Italian family)

Condition

Comprised of fourteen joined panels of various widths. Not every join is visible on the back and part of the lining. For some of the velvet panels the vertical join is visible from the front of the panel and is covered by the linen backing on the reverse. Measurements of each panel from left to right: approx. 53cm (including fringe), 24cm., 48.5cm., 23cm., 23.5cm., 49cm., 48.3cm. 23.5cm., 23.5cm., 48.5cm., 23cm., 48cm., 48.5cm. & 26cm. (3cm. wide fringe).The backing has yellow stitching on the reverse showing the outline of the applied motifs on the front. The backing is printed with symbols and letters in red and black, including E.O.Margo (which is an Italian family). Some losses to motifs of gold threads. Some minor marks on velvet. Striking and very decorative panel.
