Very decorative, Mounts tarnished, Some old splits to the edges of one top. Old marks and scratches to both consistent with age and use.

The London firm of Donald Ross had premises in Soho during the third quarter of the 19th century. Ross appears to have made a speciality of the dotted marquetry trellis popularised by Garnier and Sené in 18th century Paris. The firm exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.
