Description

  • Brass, steel and enamel
  • 12cm. 4¾in. diameter
4-inch silver and champlevé enamel twenty-four hour dial with touch pieces, the inner circle and outer band depicting the signs of the zodiac, the centre with angels, birds and vases of flowers in polychrome enamels, the band with a profile mask of a young man in ruffed collar within an oval reserve, flanked by hunting scenes in high relief, the upper bezel applied with a compass and a folding sundial with pierced gnomon, the underside with a fixed dial recording the Saints days for the year, the whole raised on winged cherub mask feet; now fitted with an incomplete replica movement

Condition

Minor losses to the enamel at the centre of the dial, original gilding in generally good condition, Saints dial now soldered into position, glass to compass cracked; Now fitted with an incomplete replica movement.
