Description

  • OAK, BAISE AND METAL
  • 75cm. high, 91.5cm. wide, 46cm. deep; 2ft. 5½in., 3ft., 1ft. 6in.
the rectangular swivel top with release catch and enclosing a baize surface, the frieze with carving to each side, the interior with a partial paper label printed, 'T. & G. Sed... No... Lond...' 

Condition

Generally in very good order with attractively figured oak. 'Ready to place'.

Catalogue Note

The firm T & G Seddon were reknowned as makers of fine quality furniture.  They were awarded a Royal warrant in 1832 following their partnership with Nicholas Morel to refurnish Windsor Castle. A similar card table to the present lot is illustrated in C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture, 1996, p.408.
