Thence by descent until sold by order of The Trustees of The Chatsworth Settlement, Christie's London, 23 June 1983, lot 61 (part of the set).

Gilding re-newed. Some minor chips and minor stains to upholstery. Excellent overall condition.

François Hervé supplied an extensive group of seat furniture in 1783 to William, 5th Duke of Devonshire. Much of this remains in the collection at Chatsworth.
