  • 75cm. high, 175cm. wide, 115cm. deep; 2ft. 5½in., 5ft. 9in., 3ft. 9¼in.
stamped Johnstone & Jeans, 67 New Bond Street, London and the number 5874, the tooled leather inset above a pair of frieze drawers to each long side, the trestle ends with concealed castors

Condition

In original condition. The leather top with a lot of wear, including ring marks and some losses. Two frieze drawers with losses on the inside top rim. Locks stamped J. T. Needs, 128 Piccadilly and Late J. Bramah, 174 Piccadilly. No keys. Drawers a little sticky. Dent to one corner. Chips to some veneers with old marks and scratches from use. Good quality and a practical piece.

Catalogue Note

Originally Johnstone, Jupe & Co., the company were perhaps best known for their extending circular dining tables. Following the departure from the company in 1840 of Robert Jupe, John Johnstone formed a new partnership with a Mr Jeanes and this new company stamp appears on quality furniture from this date.
