Commissioned by George William Bowyer Adderley (1787-1872)

Thomas Dowbiggin undertook a number of commissions, along with other leading cabinet makers of the day, for Fillongley. In January 1827, Dowbiggin of Mount Street, London, Royal Upholsterers were paid £1083.

Condition

Lovely quality. Some locks stamped J. Child. The panels to each wardrobe door slighly warped. Evidence of wood worm to the reverse.

Catalogue Note

Dowbiggin was patronised in the second quarter of the 19th century by some of the leading families in Britain, patronage which included the Royal Household. The company was eventually suceeded by Holland & Sons. They also produced a number of quality bedroom furnishings in mahogany for Lord Gwdir and Lord Willoughby de Eresby at Drummond Castle in Scotland.
