Description
- silver
- 38cm, 15in wide
applied gadroon borders, each engraved with a coat-of-arms, supports and motto below a baron's coronet, scratch weights '38=2 1/2' and '38=13', respectively numbered 'No 1' and 'No 5'
Provenance
John, 2nd Baron Monson of Burton (1727-1774) and then by descent to John Rosebery, 10th Baron Monson of Burton (1907-1958), sold as part of lot 133 or lot 134, Sotheby's, London, 19 April 1954.
Condition
A good pair of dishes of nice weight, makrs good (one maker's mark double struck); overall condition good but with the usual knife-scratched surfaces and a few very minor dents.

John, 2nd Baron Monson of Burton, co. Lincolnshire (1727-1774), who married on 23 June 1752, Theodosia, daughter of John Maddison of Stainton Vale and Stamford, of the same county.
