Description

  • crossed Ls enclosing date letter S for 1771, one also with painter's mark of a quaver for Antoine-Toussaint Cornailles, the other with 6 for Bertrand

  • 10.6cm., 4¼in.high
seaux à verre ordinaire, decorated with a green ground reserved with mixed flower sprays, one painted by Bertrand, the other by Antoine-Toussaint Cornailles, the reserves edged with gilded palms and flower garlands,

Condition

The cooler painted by Bertrand has some losses to the gilded line around the rim adjacent to the handles and in the central area of one side. The footrim and one handle of the same cooler also have some very minor wear to the gilding. Both have a few superficial short scratches to the green ground and glaze.
