Catalogue Note
The decoration of these seaux and those in lots 222 and 223, follows the same scheme as the Bertin service plates in lot 219 dated 1763. It is possible they were ordered as later additions to the service, although there is no documentary evidence for this. For a discussion of this group, see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, Vol. II, list 63-3 p. 350, and list 71-8, p. 468.
