the portrait tapestry panel of St Peter with the key to Rome, with shaped surround of braid, centrally applied to crimson velvet panel edged with metal-braid and rosettes

Condition

Colours more attractive in reality and not as dark as in the catalogue photograph. Velvet panel backed with complimentary coloured crimson silk. With splits in places, especially along the top, weakened by having had a wooden batten support in the past. Recommend Velcro attached for hanging in the future. Splits to silk up the sides. Section of tapestry across the top of different colour, added, to fit withing the shaped cartouche. Tapestry panel in good overall condition.
