Catalogue Note
This pattern, which comprises different landscapes within a standard border, is associated with Lord Henry Thynne, second son of the third Marquess of Bath, who presumably owned one. However, many sets must have been made for different clients over the ten year period, 1775-85. For another dish of the same shape, also with this pattern, see The Barratt Collection, sold by Christies, 16th December 2010, lot 293.
