Condition
There is a little minor wear to the gilded line around the rim of the dish. There is some pitting inside the base of the dish (firing flaw).

Catalogue Note
The mark To is associated with the modeller John Toulouse who had previously been employed by the Bow factory to make similar models. For another shell salt (painted with a bird) impressed with his mark, see The Zorka Hodgson Collection, sold by Bonhams, 10th September 2008, lot 79.
