in Louis XVI style, with an inset verde antico marble top above open shelves similarly inset, the cupboard door enclosing a shelf with a tooled leather inset slide above a drawer fitted for writing implements below
Provenance
The Executors of 6th Earl of Rosebery and his family, sold Sotheby`s sale of the contents of Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, 18th, 19th,and 20th May 1977, lot 73.
Literature
A catalogue in one volume of the collection at Mentmore was privately printed by R. & R. Clark of Edinburgh in 1883 under the title Mentmore. A catalogue in two volumes also entitled Mentmore followed in 1884. The present lot is recorded in Mentmore, Volume II, page 171, number 20.
