A set of twelve English hand-colored etchings by D'Angelo dated 1763

D'Angelo, an Italian fencing instructor at Eaton College in England in the mid 18th century.  D'Angelo published the first fencing manual which incorporated poses using the three fencing blades.  Previously, manuals had only dealt with the foil.  The engravings were made by various hands; probably engravers in the employ of the publisher.  The engravings were hand colored in this century.  The legend "Published According to Act of Parliament Feb 1763," was imprinted because everything published in Britain at this time came under rigorous censorship laws and this was the imprimatur required for books containing engravings at that time.  English, 1763.
