Condition

Pile ranges from near original closely sheared 1/10 inch to low to knotheads and spot foundation in areas of wear, mostly in lower half of field. Scattered visible warp ties. Foundation slightly brittle in areas. Overtinted reds. A 4 x 4 inch area near medallion where a flap of the carpet is reinserted and reinforced with patch on reverse. Remnants of original purple silk selvages, mostly fraying and worn away. Upper end with small nick out of center; both ends secured with binding stitch. Lustrous wool typical of these high quality Kashan carpets. will enhance with thorough cleaning and some restoration.
