Description
- porcelain painted in underglaze cobalt-blue
painted to the interior with a pot of chrysanthemums within an octagonal border of lappet panels, surrounded by alternating panels of emblems and flowers, the exterior decorated with panelled designs enclosing stylised lingzhi heads and dotted swirls
Condition
The dish has a circa 6cm crack with associated minor hairlines at the everted rim which is also visible from the exterior. The rim also has a 1 x 0.5cm circular glaze chip or uneven nick possibly caused by impurity in the clay body. There are extensive fritting to along the rim and considerable glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots, bust glaze bubbles and kiln grits particularly to the central medallion of the dish. Extensive surface scratchings are visible particularly to the central medallion (the longest measuring circa 3cm).
