Description
- ivory
of rectangular form with a foliate cover and base raised on four bun feet, intricately carved and pierced overall with a dense composition of figures set in a landscape with elaborate buildings and trees, bordered by leafy floral scrolls
Condition
There are minor nicks to the pierced carving. Stains to the ivory are evident to the interior of the box near the right hinge measuring circa 11 x 1cm, and the exterior of the box near both hinges and the key plate (the largest area measuring circa 2 x 2cm). The box, the cover and the four feet are adhered with glue, traces of which is still visible along the edges of attachment. The box is in good condition with the exception of a circa 0.5cm hairline to the right foot to the front and another two circa 2cm hairline running across the base of the left foot to the back.
