the cylindrical body painted in bright doucai enamels within underglaze blue outlines with two canted rectangular panels of floral blossoms issuing from rockwork, separated by smaller leaf and fan-shaped floral or landscape panels, all reserved on a coral-ground with gilt-painted lotus scrolls, the angled shoulders with four lobed panels enclosing mythical beasts against a diaper ground with flower heads in gilt, the cylindrical neck with a central band of ruyi heads separating two rows of gilt shou characters written in various scripts, the galleried mouth encircled with a keyfret border

Condition

The vase has a 1 x 0.5cm., area of retouching to a flake at the rim, a 7mm., firing crack to the middle of the base with an associated 5.7cm., hairline glaze line, a 7cm., hairline glaze line running around the footring, minor vertical scratches and minor glaze firing imperfections including burst glaze bubbles and fritting.
