Description

carved in relief with a scholar and attendant on a rocky outcrop in a mountainous landscape beneath a pine tree

Condition

The boulder carving is in excellent condition with the exception of natural veining with assiciated flakes running across the jagged edge of the rock near the base of the carving. The stone is of very pale celadon tone with streaks of golden yellow inclusion running vertically along the pine tree. The actual colour of the stone is of a slightly darker celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
