Description

  • Jade
the boys carved sitting, reclining and crouching on a leaf-shaped base, each dressed in loose robes with a lock of hair in the forehead or hair fastened with ribbons into two buns, the fleshy cheeks modelled with animated expressions while holding various attributes such as a lotus flower, a lingzhi stalk, a lotus pod and a gold ingot, the stone of even white tone and traces of russet skin and natural veining, wood stand and box

Condition

The brush rest is in good condition with the exception of natural veining of the stone with associated flakes, particularly to one of the hands and attributes. There is a patch of russet skin remain on the carving which has been cleverly incorporated into the lotus blossom held by one of the boys. The stone is of a slightly warmer tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
